Dukes R8 App — Overview & Features

Purpose:
The Dukes R8 App extends the functionality of the Uniden R8 and other R-series detectors. It automates profile management with geofencing, adds advanced controls like GPS lockouts and K-Block presets, and introduces safety features such as Ka Mute Override.

Default Profile (“Home Base”)Save a baseline configuration for your detector. The app can capture your detector’s state on first connect, or you can re-save defaults manually. Two save modes: Basic (core options like bands/sensitivity) and Expert (captures every setting, including advanced tweaks).

Geofence Profiles (Overrides)Define geofenced areas (cities, highways, neighborhoods). Each applies its own profile while you’re inside. On exit, the app restores your default profile automatically.

Automatic Restore & ReconnectEnsures your detector always resets to the default profile when leaving

a geofence or reconnecting, preventing “stuck” profiles.

Visual FeedbackAssign background colors to geofences so you can tell which profile is active at a glance.

K-Block PresetsConfigure Operate Level, Direction, and Frequency Range for factory K-Block 1–3 and your own User K-Blocks 1–5. Values are written directly to the detector.

GPS LockoutsAutomatically mute known false alerts at recurring GPS locations. Includes drift margin (MHz), dwell timing, pass counts, and deletion logic for accuracy.

Ka Mute OverridePrevents missed threats after muting. If a Ka alert is muted and a new Ka signal appears ≥10 MHz away, holds for ~0.5 s, and has reasonable strength, the detector unmutes automatically.

Multi-Model SupportCompatible with the Uniden R8, R4, R4W, R9, and R9W detectors.

Roadmap

• BSM Muting (Planned): A future feature to suppress blind-spot monitoring interference without affecting real threats.
